New home builders now build raised homes where the ground floor is just for storage or parking, and the the living areas are now in the upper ground floor of the house.
This house in Antequera Bohol is not just an anti flood raised house but it is also a well insulated house. The walls are made of composite concrete and styro (EPS – Expanded Polystyrene) solid walls that are excellent heat shields so the heat from the sun during the day can never penetrate the wall thus making cool walls and cool rooms. The large window openings have also made the house cooler than normal homes, so you never have to worry about high electricity bills due to over-worked aircons.
During the day, you will never have to run the air conditioners since the rooms stay cool due to the insulated walls and the large window openings where the rural air can easily pass through the house and the walls that are exposed to the sun never heat up since the walls are protected by the styro concrete composite mix.
This type of styro concrete pre fabricated wall is also already surface smoothened so the finishing and smoothening is already half done – simply patch up the joints and connections and apply the paint on the rest of the surface straight away.
The house is colored white since white is also a very good light deflector so that it helps to keep the temperature low.
The water system is pressurized since most rural areas around the country do not have good water pressure.
The floors at the ground floor are smoothened concrete while the upper floor have Vigan tiles to give it that rural and rustic look and is made extra shiny by the epoxy finishing film.
